Room 3

Term Two Highlights in Room 3 so far!

Breakfast Club in Room 3 –Feed & Read!

This term we as a class have started an initiative called, ‘Feed & Read’ for our whanau and their tamariki.

It’s always great to see the huge parent turnover in Room 3. It’s awesome to see many parents coming in the morning to read every day with their child, feed them with breakfast and help them with their reading logs despite of their daily demands and time constraints of work. Thank you to all these parents for trying hard to be there daily with your child. Room 3 would like to see more parents coming to our classroom to support their child’s learning. I have seen some huge gains in their reading levels.

So, to all whanau in Room 3, please keep up the great work!

Highlights for Term 2 in Room 3

Room 3 –Term one Inquiry on –I am a Citizen

This term as a class we have been working on how to write Bio Poems as part of our Inquiry Learning topic on, “I am a Citizen.”

We also looked at an app called –PhotoFunia for our digital portraits that complimented really well with our bio poems.  Each week on Friday as a team we have a poem of the weekSo first few weeks we have focused on –Who am I?  We looked at the bio poems with a pattern.

We all used an online –Bio Poem Generator app to type our poems and Ms. Sikka then printed them out. We used the app –PhotoFunia to create our photos and Jazz it up!

We were surprised that with over 350 different effects we can transform a simple picture into a work of art or display a picture on an advertising billboard!

We all selected our own customised photo art frames from PhotoFunia and glued our bio poems on them however next time we might insert a text box and write them directly on to it.

We were all pretty stoked with the outcome and we loved the overall art-work, different artistic digital portraits, colours and effect these photos added to our classroom. I am sure our parents would have loved seeing these on Meet the Teacher Day!
