Our Samoan Language Week is in Week 5 this term
Monday 28 May-Friday 01 June
We are proud to celebrate Samoan Language Week at Robertson Road School. 39.66% of our students identify themselves as Samoan, the largest ethnic group at our school.
Samoan Language Week is a chance for all New Zealanders to celebrate the Sāmoan culture and language. Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa is also a time to focus on encouraging more people to use and learn Gagana Sāmoa. Sixty per cent of Sāmoans in New Zealand speak Gagana Samoa but we want that number to grow.
This year’s theme is: “Ma’au i lou ofaga. Maua’a lou fa’asinomaga” – “Keep your identity alive to thrive”
We have a fun filled week planned and let us all participate and learn from our Samoan proud community.
We were also part of the opening of the Samoan Language week which was held at the Mangere Town Centre Samoan Fale.
We were proud of our student’s performance and participation.
