Lara Shackleton – Team Leader Room 20

Kia Ora!

My name is Lara Shackleton. I was born and raised in West Auckland, attending Massey High School before going to Auckland College of Education.  I moved to South Auckland after getting married to My husband Dave in 2015. Since then, our family has grown … we have 2 little boys, Finlay and Lachlan who keep me very busy when I am not at school.

When I am at school, you will find me in room 20 with my gorgeous class of year 2 / 3 learners. Please come and say hello, as I would love to meet you all.  One of my passions is literacy and I love reading and writing, this comes through my students and we always have amazing writing to share.

Seesaw is an exciting new way of sharing your children’s work with you and I’d love to see you online here.  Please come and see me if you would like help to start up!

Sherwen Mohan – Year 3 Teacher Room 13

Hi there! I was born in Durban, South Africa . My family moved to New Zealand in 1996. After attending Waikowhai Intermediate, I completed my secondary schooling at Mount Roskill Grammar. I then worked in a fast-paced business environment at Vodafone. Being passionate about technology and working in a corporate environment, pursuing a Bachelor of Business degree at Auckland University of Technology was an easy decision to make. To further my work experience, I have taken internships and jobs in Australia and Canada. One of these jobs, working as a videographer for an educational consulting company, took me to several primary schools in Australia. I completed by Graduate Diploma in Teaching in 2018. I started as Year 3 teacher at Robertson Road this year which I am thoroughly enjoy thus far. Outside of this school, I enjoy dabbling in photography, playing indoor soccer, travelling, and keeping up with the latest gadgets to hit the market.

Vanesh Pillay – Y2/3 Teacher Room 21

Greetings Whanau

My name is Vanesh Pillay and I am excited to be part of the junior team at Robertson Road School. My husband and I originate from South Africa and we have two adorable children named Vaishnavi (15) and Udayan (8), both born in New Zealand. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, baking, dancing, listening to music, watching movies and most of all spending time with my family. I graduated from the University of Auckland and am trained to teach years 0-8. I have worked with children in South Africa,UK, Australia and New Zealand. I love that together we can make a huge difference in a child’s life. The best part of my job is watching children learn, grow, develop lifelong skills and independence. This term we have been working on having a growth mindset to exercise and train the brain to stretch and grow. Please feel free to email or drop by with any questions about how we can help with your child’s learning. We would love for you to be part of our Seesaw team so that you can easily access and view the hard work and great progress your children are making in the classroom.
