Food and Drink
At RRS we try to model healthy choices with food and drink. The World Health Organisation recommends that children have no more that 3-4 teaspoons of added sugar per day.
We are also aware that some students have moderate to severe allergies that need to be managed carefully. This is why we are a:
water only school
no lollies or chewing gum
no shared lunches
School Lunches & Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club
Breakfast club runs every morning in the hall from 8:15 - 8:45 am, all students are welcome.
Fruit in Schools Programme
Robertson Road School is part of the Fruit in Schools initiative. FIS targets children at the eligible primary schools who each receive a free piece of fresh produce daily.
The key objectives for Fruit in Schools are to see:
children in participating school communities eating more fruit and vegetables
more school communities promoting health through a whole school approach
an increased awareness and implementation of healthy eating and physical activity.
The programme is funded by Te Whatu Ora and managed by the produce organisation United Fresh.
Ka Ora, Ka Ako - Healthy School Lunches
Robertson Road School is proudly part of the Ka Ora, Ka Ako - Healthy School Lunch programme. All students receive lunch every school day, these are delivered in the late morning by our food supplier - Lunchy.
Students with allergies or specific dietary requirements are catered for, and this information is collected upon enrolment.
To reduce food waste, we encourage our students to take home any spare meals at the end of the day.
